I ran into trouble getting my GoogleVoice account authorized on Bill Simon’s website - the login attempts were declined by Google as a security measure. I was able to get past it using the application-specific password setup -- see instructions at https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833

Once I had the Simon Connection information, I was able to configure the Zoiper client on my iPhone and both incoming and outgoing calls worked like a charm.

In case, it helps anybody else, here are the Zoiper 2.14 for iPhone settings that worked for me:
• Account type: "SIP Account"
• Account name - Simon // can be anything
• Domain - gvgw1.simonics.com // Simon Server name
• User name - GV19991234567 // Simon Username
• Password - Xyzkk // Simon Secret
• Caller ID - 19991234567 // Your Google Voice number

I used Google Voice + Simonics with my Linksys PAP2v2 device and I was able to send and receive calls. I did not have to do any of the FREEPBX parts, is the software inside of the PAP2v2 device acting like the PBX in this case?

If you don't want to give the gateway your *real* password, enable Google's 2-step verification, and generate a password for this application. That way, you can revoke it later if you decide not to use the service. I've just done this, and it's working great! Thanks for the article!

Thank you very much for the tutorial. I've setup everything and both outgoing and incoming calls work (even if my account is logged in in other places as well). I'm just not getting the inbound audio on incoming calls even though the outbound audio is fine (the party can hear me). Probably a temporary glitch :)

I followed the steps above and outgoing calls only works out. I'm having a problem with incoming calls.

[WM: Make sure you're using a dedicated Google Voice account that is not open elsewhere. If this doesn't fix it, try restarting Asterisk. If all else fails, head to the PIAF Forum for support.]

New registration for the Google Voice Gateway is temporarily disabled. If you have registered already, you can use the form below to get your SIP registration credentials or delete your gateway registration. https://simonics.com/gvgw/. Does anyone know why and if registration will be opened back up?

This doesn't work at all. Nothing is working inbound our outbound. "asterisk -vvvvv" enabled.. I keep getting 'service not available' when attempting to place an outbound call.

'>sip show peers' returns that the trunk is OK (104ms) so I believe that asterisk is registered with simon but everytime I attempt to call the GV number from a land line it just rings and finally goes to Google VM. I see no debug messages at all on my Asterisk box.

Sorry, but the writeup is leaving out some key steps here for dummies like me.
2/10

(Using Elastix 2.3.0 Stable)

[WM: Switch to PIAF. Works like a champ out of the box. All Asterisk servers are not created equal. ]

Hi, I am a complete newby but was able to get the first two major steps setup however, I can't get my outbound calls to work. PBX says I have 1 trunks online & 1 trunk registrations.

This is a brand new PBX install FreePBX 2.9.0.11 the only changes to it, have been your instructions. I am most likely missing additional steps.

I have a PAP2 connected to the same info and it and a softphone SIP are taking the inbound calls fine. However I cant get anything besides a busy signal on outbound.

Any suggestions?

[WM: If you have support issues, ALWAYS head to the PIAF Forums. Having said that, you're starting at the wrong end of the learning curve if you're new to all of this. Come back on Monday, July 9, and start with Incredible PBX 4. It literally does everything for you. Once you're comfortable with the feature set, you can move on to more advanced topics such as YATE.]
