I was looking for a forum post about RingBack+ to ask this question: I have a phone (an HTC Incredible 4G) which I want to check on RingBack+. Does the phone have to currently be active on another carrier for it to show up in the IMEI database that the website checks? Right now, it says the number I am entering doesn't show up. Does that just mean I'm out of luck?

Am I understanding correctly that the $10 *cost* for the Michaelangelo plan is basically used in the event that you go over your free minutes or you call somewhere that isn't a free call from the service? So, if I am only using SIP calls from this service, I will (probably) never tap into that $10, correct?

[WM: You're partially correct. The $10 deposit is only used to cover overages. However, SIP calls using your RingPlus account count as calls just as if you used your phone. If this is for pure SIP calling, you might want to keep an eye out for a plan with unlimited calling. For example, if you join Lifetime Member+ ($69.99), you can sign up for the Eternity plan starting at noon EST today for $15 and get unlimited calls, text, and 1.8GB of 4G LTE data monthly with additional GB at $8.99. That's the cheapest unlimited U.S. SIP trunk you'll find anywhere.]

A big THANK YOU for posting this. We had my wife's old LG Optimus V which she used on VirginMobile some years ago. I plugged the IMEI ID into RingPlus tool and it passed as a viable device. I signed up for the Michelangelo plan, configured the MDN and MSID on the phone and IT WORKS. Giving the phone to my brother, who is a senior on a very limited fixed budget.

I've been using ringplus for a couple years now and have to it's very stable and the plans keep on getting better. I will say fluid call can been less reliable then ringplus as a whole. I personally pair it with Anveo as you can route calls over pots fairly cheaply if sip fails. Many of my small business owner fiends think ringplus's unlimited calling calling plans paired with Anveo is a godsend.

Looks as if Nerd Vittles readers have brought RingPlus voice service to its knees this morning. One of our forum regulars described RingPlus as the Cloud@Cost of cellular. That seems especially apropos at the moment. Updates here.

I waited until 3pm and signed up for the new free plan but cannot get SIP to register from Asterisk or any other client. It just times out. Looking at the R+ help forums it looks like SIP connectivity has more or less been down for almost 2 weeks straight. Did you guys not have this problem in your testing?

[WM: SIP worked great until about 10 days ago. They're making some hardware changes, and it looks like it's taking a little longer than they expected. More info here. Hang in there. ]
