Ward, thanks for all your work. I've got Trixbox up and running like a charm, thanks to you, and I haven't enjoyed anything so much in years. Q: I'm unfamiliar with MySQL. Is there any way to import data from an existing database or CSV into Asteridex?

Thanks again!

Dale

[WM: Dale, thanks. As for importing data into AsteriDex. Yes, MySQL supports CSV imports. Open up phpMyAdmin and take a look. The problem is building your CSV data to match the existing AsteriDex file format. If you Google around, there are some tools for moving MySQL data from one database to another that might be easier. Just create a MySQL table to match your CSV format, and then use one of these tools to move the data into AsteriDex. Good luck.]

I finally broke down and installed Asteridex... Almost as great as sliced bread. I am having one issue... The numbers dialed don't seem to use by described routes. For instance, I have make use of Sipphone (Gizmo), and when I use Asteridex, goes immediately into congestion... Looking at the console, when I try to place my Sipphone calls, instead of calling the sipphone trunk, it places the call into outbound-allroutes as opposed to it placing it into SIP/gizmo.

Is there something that I misconfigured?

Howdy again, a couple of minor things that didn't seem quite right in the docs: The .vmx file was not trixbox.vmx, but something like "Red Hat Linux.vmx". Also the commands cd /root and then ./fixmacaddr didn't do anything except say no such command. I think maybe the directory was supposed to be something else other than /root?

Re my prior question about accessing the web intrface via non-host machines, our network subnet is a common local subnet range 10.1.121.x. (The host XP machine is 10.1.121.157.) The Trixbox IP is 192.168.188.129... and the 192.168 seems to be hardwired in the VMware system somewhere. Near as I can tell, a computer on a 10.1 subnet cannot browse a computer with a 192.168 subnet. That's what I was wondering ... if there was some add'l change to make to XP (or VMware) so the VMware subnet would be compatible with -- or mapped to -- the external subnet. Thanks, as always, for some great stuff to play with!

[WM: Sorry about the .vmx mixup. I'll fix it in the articlle. As for the missing fixmacaddr, you can download it from here. Be sure to make it executable before you run it (chmod +x fixmacaddr). Or just create the file yourself after logging in as root. Again, be sure to make it executable before you run it.]

Hi Ward, are we supposed to be able to access the trixbox admin web app from other machines on the network? If so, which IP address do we use? The "trixbox" address is 'internal' to vmware, and works on the host machine only. Is there some trick to making that available to other machines on the network so we don't have to log into the "dumb old pc" we're hosting trixbox/vmware on? Thanks!

[WM: The IP address shown after you log into your TrixBox console as root is an accessible IP address to other machines on your LAN assuming you have other devices on the same local area network. This will not be the same IP address as your Windows PC.]

Nice Job, I have installed this and am looking forward to using it but am having a few issues. I found that I had the same problems as both posts 3 and 4 were experienceing. I solved them both by removing the 1 from the $LDprefix="" statement and also setting up custom-callboth like this:

[custom-callboth]
exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,1,Wait(1)
exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,2,Background(pls-wait-connect-call)
exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,3,Macro(dialout-trunk,0,${EXTEN},)
exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,4,Macro(outisbusy) ; No available circuits

When I go to call my cell phone from asteridex it bridges the call to my SIP phone, and my SIP phone rings as if it is calling my cell phone but my cell phone never actually rings. If I dial my cell phone directly on my SIP phone the cell phone rings. Thanks

Ward, I've really been enjoying trying out your trixbox enhancements. I have run into a problem with this latest one though. It dials my extension and I pick it up, and instead of dialing the selected phone number it says "Goodbye". How can I investigate what is going wrong? Thanks

[WM: Crank up the CLI (asterisk -r) and see what's going on. Sounds like you haven't configured a matching trunk number for the dialout function so it's not placing the outbound calls.]

I got AsteriDex installed and running, bit it will only dial a number that begins with a "1"....a long distance number. I removed the "1" from $LDprefix="1", but with that removed, it simply won't dial anything. With it in, it prepends a "1" to everything that is entered, so I can't dial any local numbers or any of my 4 internal prefix numbers. Did I miss something?

Thanks
Bill

[WM: There's something different in the way you have the dialplan for your outbound trunks configured. I'd recommend you post some of your setup on the TrixBox Help forum, and we'll have a look.]

Hey Ward, thanks again for keeping us with a top of the line PBX, without the high cost and the countless days of configuration of the other PBXs. Anyway, how are things going at the new place? Everything settled in? I hope so... now to my question, is there a context I could use to make the asteridex to use my default routes, which are based on the destination, so that I don't have to define it in the asteridex but use the defaults? I have a route with multiple failover trunks for calls to 787 (Puerto Rico), but another route for calls in the continental US again with multiple trunks, and so on... I just don't want to duplicate the effort I already put in defining my routes... Thanks for all your help, patience, and effort, I am sure that the whole Nerd Vittles Community apreciates everything you do! (My apologies for the long comment.)
