Thanks for the info about ipKall Ward. I learn something new with every one of your postings. I went ahead and set up one of my voip.ms dids this way, but I can't find anything in voip.ms's rates to indicate a difference for inbound sip uris. Where did you find that info, or am I just missing something obvious here.

This setup ought to be perfect for someone I recently set-up with a voip trunk that primarily only has inbound traffic.

Anyway, thanks again for the great information.

[WM: Can't remember where we found the rate info, but it turned out to be wrong. The easiest way is to just make an inbound call using your IPkall number and then check your billing history in your account at VoIP.ms.]

While I think it's a great idea to use a whitelist of IPs, what about home users whose IPs are dynamic and change, like me?

That won't work in this instance, unless you have some way to use STUN to have the SIP phone report it's IP. But that sounds like a small security problem to me.

[WM: DynDNS.com has a free Android client that will keep your FQDN updated automatically. Used in conjunction with Travelin' Man 3, you'll have rock-solid security even with a dynamic IP address.]
