Forget skype and go with Google Voice. I never liked the propritary and closed Skype platform and do not whish to support it.

When downloading the skype-static package from skype.com, the server now sends a new version 2.2.0.35. You should modify the install file and the .spec file to point to the correct versions. Otherwise nice installer – I had given up on doing this a few times in the past (not so much due to complexity as to my own laziness). Thanks!

Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using? I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having a tough time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!

While I admire the efforts in adding these new features to PIAF (and I’ve opened a Vitality account with the link), my biggest problem is that there seems to be no discussion about upgrading an existing installation.

[WM: You might want to visit the forums for some tips. PIAF includes update-source which will upgrade CentOS to current. There is no real migration path between Asterisk 1.4, 1.6.2, and 1.8. FreePBX includes an update module which will get you current there. Once you get your old system to FreePBX 2.8, Incredible Backup can be used to migrate you to a different version of Asterisk. Having said all of that, this isn’t like Windows. Once you get a stable phone system, our best advice is leave it alone.]

Would you unpack the statement made in the article "Well, the good news is that Asterisk 1.8.4.1 now appears to qualify as a stable release with fixes to several nasty bugs which caused some Cisco and Polycom phones to no longer connect."? Does that mean that the best plan for those of us with troubles with Cisco Phones or PolyCom Phones should considering just reinstalling from the ISO? Thanks for another article. [WM: Asterisk is starting to remind me of my salt water aquarium days. It pays to have two tanks. :-) We would certainly recommend that you try Asterisk 1.8.4.1. Install instructions for PBX in a Flash are covered above. The reports we are hearing suggest that the Cisco and Polycom bugs have been addressed. YMMV!]
