I would make note for others that the sed command that changes the aastra.cfg to let your phones know your server's ip .... can only be run once. Subsequent issues of this command will not update the aastra.cfg file to the new server IP.

FYI. I was wondering why my phones were not registering and nano'ing the aastra.cfg told the story (I was still using the old server IP)!

So I've already signed up for a vitelity account and have it configured in my system. How do i configure a trunk for 'your' service since I already have trunks installed?

DON'T FOLLOW THE LINK TO THE $25 1GB of memory and blindly purchase as I did. The link is for memory specific to the Everex gPC not the Everex gPC2 that you should be using for this distro. The memory that this page is linked to doesn't play nice with the memory in the gPC2. This is what was causing my constant lockups......and they say I don't have attention to detail...hahaha.

[WM: So long as you use a matched pair of these, there should be no problems. The crashes begin when you pair one of the new RAM chips with the existing chip in the gPC2's. Sorry.]

I set this up and added a second drive and enabled RAID; all easy all good. But that caused my USB thumb drive to be on /dev/sdc1 not /dev/sdb1 and that broke the automatic backup scripts that are looking for /dev/sdb1. I can easilly change /root/usbformat and /root/usbcheck, but the weekly cron job still seems to fail. Is there some easy way to either reconfigure the USB drive back to /dev/sdb1 or to change the cron weekly job to use /dev/sdc1 ?

Thanks for the advice!

[WM: Morris, edit /etc/asterisk/disk-backup.conf. Search for sdb1 and change it to sdc1. Save your changes, and you're all set.]

For the Aastra phone setup I'd like to add two points to help the other newbs like me.

1) you need to update the password inside the MacAddressOfYourPhone.cfg file to match the password change you did when you were told that "your phone bill depends" on a strong password.

2) make sure you use uppercase letters when changing the .cfg file to the mac address of your phone.

Viva PBX in a flash!!!

I have couple of servers that I used before with other applications. Thier hardware are a lot better than the PC mentioned here.
Is there any way to use them instead going out and buy that PC?

Can I install that OS and then take it from there?
